Bitsy's Favorite Home Finds: My Love Affair with Castlery
From Studio to Loft to Dream Home: My Castlery Love Story
(Unmatched Quality, Unwavering Loyalty)
If you know me, you know that with every move I make, there’s one non-negotiable: a Castlery couch. You can ask everyone I know…and my little brother, who got verrrrryyy lucky to have gotten one from me when I didn’t have the space for it. This isn’t just a brand I love—it’s a brand I trust with my whole cozy, design-obsessed heart. And trust me, I put my furniture through it. I have a dog, I host, I lounge HARD, it’s served as a bed in my studio spaces — and yet, my Castlery couches still look like they just arrived fresh out of a showroom.
Let’s rewind a few years back to 2021. My love story with Castlery began when I achieved a humungous life dream….moving to NYC! With the help of virtual layouts and cool measuring tools on the internet, I was able to totally lay out my studio before I moved in…and with the help of a murphy bed, I knew I could get the sectional I had my eye on. As soon as I moved from Philly to DUMBO in the fall of 2021, I immediately got to work and turned my beautiful studio into an actual hosting space with the Castlery Pebble L Sectional in Grey. (Yes, an NYC studio apartment with an L sectional—if that’s not dedication, I don’t know what is.) That couch singlehandedly transformed my space into the ultimate hangout spot, where friends could actually sit comfortably and not just awkwardly perch on the edge of a too-small loveseat. It also got it’s start as a makeshift “guest room” for any visitors. If you take the back cushions off, it’s basically the size of two twin beds!
Then Barry & I moved this pretty little thang all the way over the the island of Manhattan for a short stint. The hardwood floors in my beloved Brooklyn studio had begin to buckle, so they needed to take out everything to replace the floors in full. Given the cost it would have been to move me out for a few days, I was offered the option to move to any unit within my property management’s portfolio free of charge - and while I was hesitant to leave DUMBO, I figured this was my chance to get to Manhattan for a little less $$. So, off we went (a moment when I should have trusted my gut and stayed in BK…but more on that another day)!
Lucky for me, this couch fit EXACTLY into the nook of this alcove studio’s living area. Quite the change up in views, and although my heart never left DUMBO - I was grateful for my time spent approximately an 8 minute walk from Central Park. I had fun with this space, experimenting with some pretty paint colors and new placements for my art.
….and then I moved, again. Back to my old building in Brooklyn. (LOL)
I won’t go into too much detail here other than I should have listened to my gut, stayed in my old unit and let them figure out a plan for storing all my apartment furniture, myself and Barry during the floor work. BUT we had a small, tiny urge to live in Manhattan and I took it, even when my little voice kept saying, “I don’t think you will like living in this building…don’t let the views sway you.” I was swayed haha. But alas, we live and we learn and we course correct & pivot. And I ended up back in DUMBO, my happy place! All that matters is that Barry approved of all of this, and always relaxed after his busy NYC days on the traveling couch.
If there is one piece I still lose sleep over, it’s the Luna Sideboard. She was the one that got away. Quite literally. I had every intention of keeping her, but during my last move, I had a bit of a logistical mishap (a.k.a. someone bailed last minute on buying her), and in a moment of desperation, I left her in my apartment lobby with a “FREE, you lucky person, you” sign on it. Within ONE HOUR, she was gone.
And to whoever snagged that find of the century, I hope you’re treating her well. If I could have somehow fit her into my new place, she would still be mine.
Now that we are back in Michigan in 2025 in present day, I’ve kindly given that one of a kind sectional to my youngest brother, as I was ready for a change in my current downtown Detroit loft. I loved the Pebble sectional so much that I didn’t stray too far — I got the Pebble Chaise Sofa!
AsI prepare for my biggest move yet—into my Michigan house—I finally have the space to consider my ultimate Castlery lineup. More room means more furniture, and you already know the first place I’m looking.
This post isn’t sponsored (though, Castlery, if you’re reading this, let’s talk 👀). Not sponsored, just true love for a brand that gets it. Simple pure, unfiltered brand loyalty. Because when you find a company that delivers on both quality and aesthetics, you stick with it. And if you’re in the market for furniture that can handle real life while still looking elevated, let me introduce you to your new obsession.
Now, excuse me while I go browse their site for the millionth time…
